An unidentified 6-year-old boy fell from a roller coaster in Florida and was later taken to the emergency room as a result of the incident. The fall was produced “nearly two thousand feet” from the attraction at Kissimmee’s Fun Spot America’s Galaxy Spin roller coaster on August 3.

About the severity of the situation, Osceola County spokesperson Mark Pino, reported that “Units arrived to find a 6-year-old with traumatic injuries under the roller coaster track, which was approximately 20 feet above.” Following the incident, the boy was as taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital’s emergency room, where he has been under treatment. At the moment, his health condition remains unknown to the public.

The Florida authorities are still uncertain about the causes of this event. They even conducted a preliminary examination of the rollercoaster which “found it to be in normal operating condition with no mechanical issues.” In addition, some witnesses, including  Lew Spectre present at the scene have affirmed that they had seen the minor standing up during the ride.

The Galaxy Spin roller coaster requires riders to be at least 48 inches tall (about 1.2 meters) to be in the attraction alone, or 42 inches (about 1 meter) if they are accompanied by an adult. In spite of the roller coaster’s being in the right condition, the theme park said it would not open it again until they are confident this kind of situation does not take place again. In addition, they showed their concern for the minor and affirmed that:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the child and their family, and we pray for a speedy recovery. The safety of our guests is our number one priority.”
