The authorities from Butler County, Ohio, found about 30 dead dogs and puppies. The animals were in various stages of decomposition inside fridges and freezers at an Ohio animal rescue center. The officers removed over 90 malnourished dogs and said the animals were in “the most horrible conditions they have ever seen.”

The dogs and puppies were placed in two different properties in Madison Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, they discovered a garage with 25 animals in cages at an internal temperature of 89 degrees. Reportedly, the dogs were kept in cages that were “filled with urine, fecal matter, and no food or water. One cage contained a mother and eight newborn puppies.”

In addition, the dead canines had been placed in five fridges and freezers, and some of them were not working. Because of this, the smell was strong enough to burn the officer’s eyes and this made them leave the house several times to catch their breath.

“Deputy Dog Wardens described the conditions of the house as unlivable. The odor was strong enough to burn their eyes and take away their breath. Conditions were so horrendous that Deputy Dog Wardens had to leave the structure numerous times to catch their breath.”

The dog rescue center was under the name “Helping Hands for Furry Paws,” and its owner, Rhonda Murphy, has been pressed with neglect and animal cruelty charges. Media outlets have not been able to get additional statements from the authorities or the center’s owner.
