The One Piece live action has been in the works for about three years. Fortunately, as of now, the Netflix production has been unveiling details every month and now it is turn for the official trailer and the running order of the episodes. These new announcements come in at the right time since they match with “One Piece Day,” which has been celebrated to commemorate the manga’s launch anniversary since 2017.
The material, which was originally created by manga writer Eiichiro Oda, will come to life on screens in August with real actors taking on the role of the beloved Japanese characters. In the trailer we will see the intrepid One Piece pirates in the first glimpse of the series, which is set to cover the first arc of the One Piece manga. The show was developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda with additional supervision by Eiichiro Oda himself. In addition, actors Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji can be seen in the sneak-peak.
It has also been confirmed that the first season of the live-action has eight episodes and will tell the stories of the pirates during their early days of the show, which takes back viewers who have seen or read One Piece before to the late 90s. The plot follows “the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates, as they explore the dangerous oceans, lands and beyond in search of the “One Piece”, a fabled treasure that will make their captain Monkey D. Luffy The King of the Pirates. But, the Navy is on their ship’s tail and they are not the only crew searching for the One Piece. Armed with skills and unbreakable friendship, the Straw Hats are ready for the journey and even more ready to fight for their dreams together.”
