An Alabama woman, identified as, Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell, was kidnapped on Thursday, July 13, as she was trying to help a toddler who was in the middle of the I-459 highway. The 25-year-old was reported safe on Saturday, July 15 after the authorities conducted a two-day search.

The young woman, who is a nursing student, is now at home and has been recovering from the shocking situation. At the moment, no official statements about the kidnapping have been done by the authorities, but Rusell’s parents have decided to give their version and express what they went through during the two days her daughter was allegedly abducted.

In an interview with NBC News Priscilla Thompson, the Rusells stated that the 25-year-old is not in a good state and affirmed that her daughter had to fight for her life during the 48 hours she had been away from home. They also stated that the perpetrator of the crime is still at liberty.

“We tried to hug her as best we could, but I had to stand back because she was not in a good state. There were moments when she physically had to fight for her life, and there were moments when she had to mentally fight for her life.”

According to the police, there were no additional reports about the child on the busy highway, and the woman was left at her own home on Saturday but is still unknown who took her there in the first place. Similarly, the parents refrained from giving more details about the crime and said the police are currently investigating the issue.
