This Monday, June 5, former vice president Mike Pence announced he will be joining the White House Race. The politician was the second head of state from 2017 to 2021.

At 63 years old, Pence filed paperwork declaring his aspiration to be the President of the United States before the Federal Election Commission in the country. As a result, he will be challenging former president Donald Trump, in the Republican Party presidential candidate election in 2024.

It is important to consider that Trump was Pence’s old boss, and in spite of this, he decided to step away from the ex-president after an argument occurred on January 6, 2021, in the congress. Trump’s supporters barged into the session where the victory of Joe Biden was being celebrated.

American media has assured that Mike Pence will start his campaign with an event in Iowa, one of the states where he plans to aggressively promote his candidacy, as he sees Christian voters in the state as a key sector for potentially winning the Republican election.

In addition to Pence, other candidates who have also announced their running on the more conservative side of the political spectrum, have been: Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, South Carolina ex-governor, Nikki Haley, Fox News presenter Vivek Ramaswamy, Virginia governor Glenn Younkin, radio presenter Larry Elder, and Arkansas ex-governor, Asa Hutchinson.
