In the morning hours of Thursday, April 7th, a plane belonging to the German international logistics company, Deutsche Post (DHL), had to make a forced landing at the Juan Santamaría International Airport in Costa Rica, at which time it accidentally left the runway, culminating in its split fuselage.

According to initial reports, the pilot would have reported a hydraulic problem when taking off to Guatemala, which is why he had to return to the Costa Rican airport. Both occupants would be safe and sound. It is a Boeing brand aircraft, model 757-200F, which would be operated by the Panamanian subsidiary Aero Expreso.

“This is a 757 cargo plane, which reported in the air that it had hydraulic problems. The units of the Airport, as well as the Alajuela, Heredia and San José Stations, were immediately activated”, firefighters indicated.
The emergency services were on the runway at the time of the accident, as part of their own protocols in this type of situation, so they were able to immediately attend the scene of the incident and put out the fire caused by the mishap.
