We’ve said it a thousand times, but it’s still exciting: GTA VI is on the way, with its release on PS5 and Xbox Series scheduled for next fall. In the meantime, major companies are closely following Rockstar’s moves, and Microsoft has decided to join the party by bringing GTA V back to Xbox Game Pass.

Starting April 15, Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Standard, and PC Game Pass subscribers will be able to relive the story of Michael, Trevor, and Franklin in Los Santos.

“If you’ve been missing the streets of Los Santos, I’m excited to share that Grand Theft Auto V will return to Game Pass on April 15,” announced Xbox Wire in a surprise statement. “And for PC players, even better news: GTA V Enhanced will be available on PC Game Pass, featuring all the latest updates, including Hao’s Special Works vehicles and more.”

This also means that GTA Online will be available through Xbox Game Pass. To play with friends, make sure you’re using the same game edition. The good news is that Game Pass Ultimate and Standard subscribers have access to all console and PC editions, while PC Game Pass users can even play with friends on Steam or Epic Games.

This isn’t the first time GTA V has joined Xbox Game Pass, but now there’s a major update: PC Game Pass users will have access to the Enhanced version, which launched in March with Ray Tracing, faster load times, higher resolution support, and compatibility with AMD FSR1, FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3. It also includes new gameplay features for GTA Online, previously exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series.

However, the GTA V Enhanced edition hasn’t been well received by the community. Shortly after its release, the game received only 53% positive reviews on Steam, and although that number has improved slightly to 62%, players are still reporting issues. The biggest complaints include problems migrating GTA Online progress and performance issues. Still, many acknowledge that the overall experience feels smoother and more detailed compared to the original version.
