A small plane crashed into a house in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, this Saturday, sparking a massive fire. Footage of the incident showed flames engulfing the home after the impact.
According to a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the accident occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. when a SOCATA TBM7 aircraft went down in a residential area near Minneapolis. The plane had taken off from Des Moines International Airport in Iowa and was en route to Anoka-Blaine County Airport in Minneapolis.
So far, the FAA has not confirmed how many people were on board the plane, but it stated that, along with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), it will continue investigating the cause of the crash.
Fortunately, authorities reported that no occupants of the house were injured. Emergency teams are working to evacuate the affected area while first responders remain on the scene.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz stated on social media that his team is in contact with local officials and is closely monitoring the situation. “Grateful for the first responders attending to the emergency,” Walz said.
