The former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams died yesterday, Tuesday, September 12th in the morning. The passing took place after he was taken off life support in the hospital, located in Tampa, Florida. The former footballer had a construction accident and died at 36 years old.
Williams was doing electrical work when he was injured and later taken to the hospital for hospitalization, according to his agent Hadley Engelhard. The former footballer was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010. Upon the tragic news, his agent said:
“He will be missed. He fought hard his whole life. Prayers to his family.”
In addition, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Syracuse Orange shared some words saying:
“We are saddened to hear of the untimely death of Mike Williams, which has left our organization, his former teammates and fans with heavy hearts. We send our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones as they mourn this tragedy.”
Moreover, the Syracuse director of athletics, John Wildhack, also gave a statement regarding William’s passing. He said: “We’re saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former Syracuse student-athlete Mike Williams. We extend our deepest sympathies to Mike’s family, friends and everyone in the Syracuse football family who knew Mike.”
After playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four seasons, he was later drafted by the Buffalo Bills and played for a whole season with that team. In 2016 he eventually played for Kansas City Chief but was released four months later.
