Tim Burton claims that artificial intelligence is a robot that is taking your soul in an interview

During a recent interview, Tim Burton made some important remarks regarding artificial intelligence (AI). The 65-year-old compared it to a “robot taking your humanity, your soul,” and called it “disturbing” in his talk with British newspaper The Independent this weekend.

The “Edward Scissorhands,” and “Corpse Bride” director referenced an article by BuzzFeed that used artificial intelligence to make Disney character look as if they could be part of one of Tim Burton’s movies. The acclaimed moviemaker stated that:

“I can’t describe the feeling it gives you, It reminded me of when other cultures say, ‘Don’t take my picture because it is taking away your soul.”

While saying that the characters did look good in the AI version, he also affirmed that they did “sucked something from you,” probably making a reference to the fact that it is not actually genuine or created by another person but by technology instead. He affirmed:

“It takes something from your soul or psyche; that is very disturbing, especially if it has to do with you. It’s like a robot taking your humanity, your soul.”

These remarks came a day and a half away before Tim Burton was able to complete filming “Beetlejuice 2.” The movie had to be stopped, then the actors’ strike began taking place. Coincidentally, the directors’ remarks match with one of the central points both writers and actors are presenting in their protest. The use of AI is one of the central issues, and they have been demanding regulations to control its use.
