Amazon Prime Video receives backlash for using artificial intelligence to promote new series

The new Amazon Prime Video series “Fallout” has not even been released yet and it has already drawn some controversy. Reportedly, the new TV show will debut next year, so Amazon decided to post a picture that quickly became the center of attention for all the wrong reasons.

The online community seems to think that the promotional art for Fallout was created with the help of artificial intelligence. Due to this, social media platforms turned against Amazon and criticized the company for posting an image that is, allegedly, made with artificial intelligence and for refusing to hire a human artist for the job.

The controversy initially sparked when an X user, formerly known as Twitter, decided to share the art for the upcoming show and questioned Amazon for being a multi-dollar company that, according to them, prefers to utilize AI rather than having a real person in charge of the art for the series.

After this, X users started analyzing the promotional picture and found that some elements in it were incomplete or appeared to look strange. As a result, they quickly thought that the image was generated through artificial intelligence, and so users decided to voice out their disagreement for Amazon’s turning its back on artists.

Nowadays, artificial intelligence tools are able to create images with a high level of detail. However, sometimes they make mistakes and this shows that their work was not actually made by a real person. This led some other portion of the public to criticize Amazon for not having better quality control, in spite of the picture being made through AI.
