Nintendo announced a collaboration involving Super Mario Bros and OREO a few weeks ago. The video game company and the cookies franchise joined forces to launch the new Super Mario-themed chocolate cookies. These collectible sweets were made available for a limited time, so once they out of the market it will be very unlikely to see them again.
Given this situation, a Super Mario Bros fan has chosen to not eat the cookies but to digitally preserve them to ensure they never fade away. This fan took the decision to conserve all the 16 designs the Super Mario Bros cookies had to offer, which were officially released in July 10 only in the United States.
The fan, known as @MrTalida on X, originally Twitter, decided to post a tweet sharing his idea. Quickly, he earned thousands of likes, comments and retweets and is at the edge of going viral. He decided to safeguard these Super Mario special edition OREO cookies. In order to do so, he had to 3D scan all the designs like this:
“I’ve 3D scanned all 16 of the limited edition Super Mario Oreo cookie designs for preservation’s sake. To make the cookies scan-ready, I had to spray paint them white. They are now forbidden poison cookies.”
This is for sure an era where nostalgia and digital tools have come together. Both worlds have teamed up to help fans conserve their favorite collectibles, in this case cookies. This for sure has been a chance to commemorate and preserve the collaboration between Super Mario and OREO.
