Glitch on X, formerly Twitter, deletes pictures and links posted before December 2014

A glitch has been currently affecting X, formerly known as Twitter. The social media platform owned by Elon Musk has problems showing old posts that have pictures or links attached to them. The reason for the origin of the problem is still unclear, but this issue has been already pointed out by users across the Internet.

Apparently, tweets posted before December 2014 seem to be the most affected ones. It appears to be that videos are not affected, but hyperlinks to YouTube can be seen with a t.co URL text that does not take users anywhere.

Due to this, some popular tweets have been completely wiped out by the glitch. For example, the selfie Ellen DeGeneres took at the 2014 Oscar Awards with movie stars like Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, and Jennifer Lawrence was deleted. When the link is accessed from a different website, the original tweet does not seem to display the image.

Fortunately, Barack Obama’s 2012 tweet was not affected by the glitch. The post he made after winning his 2012 reelection that shows a huge between her and Michelle Obama remains intact on the platform.

It is unclear if the tweet mentioned above, along with other posts, has been manually restored, so there is a lot of speculation surrounding the issue. Some people have stated that this could be an intentional move by Elon Musk to reduce costs on X. Still, the error for posts with images or links attached to it is probably related to a bug, which is something that has not been new to X. Situations of this kind have taken place ever since last year’s takeover.
