Delta Airlines was sued after it served approximately 10 glasses of vodka on the rocks to a male passenger. The man was alredy inebriated, and decided to sexually harass a teenager girl and assault the minor’s mom, as the women were sitting next to him.
The lawsuit has been filed in the Eastern District of New York, and it stated that Delta Airlines was entirely at fault for the uncomfortable situation. Apparently, the personnel allowed the man to consume the alcohol and did not take action to prevent the agressions and harassement coming from this traveler.
Throughout the nine-hour flight, the cabin crew continued to serve drinks to the man. Reporedly, he was already under the influence of alcohol when boarding the plane. After having 10 drinks, he attempted to start a conversation with a minor sitting next to him. Then proceeded to make obscene gestures and asked her for her personal information.
When the mother told the man that her daughter was underage he replied that he “did not care” and put his fingers under the girl’s clothes. The women repeatedly asked the flight attendants to move the man to a different area, but all they received was a “be patient” reply. About this situation, the pair’s lawyer sated that “What happened to them during a flight was not just a nightmare, it was completely preventable.”
Allegedly, Delta Airlines offered the women 5,000 miles as an apology for the situation and let the man get off the plane without calling the police after landing. Delta has refrained from giving comments about the situation but did remark that it has “zero tolerance” for these behaviors.
