A United States nurse and her son were kidnapped in Haiti

A United States nurse and her son were kidnapped in Haiti, according to information from “El Roi Haiti,” which is the Christian humanitarian aid organization the woman works for.

Reportedly, Alix Dorsainvil, who is El Roi Haiti’s director wife, and Sandro Dorsainvil, the couple’s son, were kidnapped on Thursday morning. The pair were abducted while doing community work in the ministry on the campus of El Rol Haiti. This place is located in Port-au-Prince, in concordance with the media outlet.

“Alix is a deeply compassionate and loving person who considers Haiti her home and the Haitian people her friends and family. Alix has worked tirelessly as our school and community nurse to bring relief to those who are suffering as she loves and serves the people of Haiti in the name of Jesus.”

The nurse, who is from New Hampshire, decided to move to Haiti when her husband invited her to a school in the country to provide nursing care to children there. Dorsainvil confirmed this in a video that is available on the organization’s website.

According to a statement given by a spokesperson for the State Department, American authorities are currently aware of the kidnappings and are collaborating with the Haitian authorities and United States government interagency partners to solve the urgent situation. About this, the State Department spokesperson said:

“The U.S. State Department and our embassies and consulates abroad have no higher priority than the safety of U.S. citizens abroad.”
