The Maine Warden Service has confirmed a report that says a 46-year-old man, identified as Henry Brooks, lost his life while trying to save his two daughters, a twelve-year-old and a thirteen-year-old, who fell into the deepest part of a pond, according to officials.
Reportedly, the family was spending time together at the Seven Tree Pond in Union. Suddenly, they noticed that one of his children was pulled into the deepest part of the waters. In concordance with the authorities, one of the sisters attempted to save her but also was also pulled into the water. As a result, both young girls started to sink slowly into an even deeper part of the pond.
After this, Brooks, the father of these two girls, decided to jump into the water to save them. His 27-year-old son also tried to rescue them, but he was the only one to take the necessary precautions by grabbing a life jacket. According to the Warden Service, the father of four did not do the same thing. Later, the young man managed to save his sisters and brought them to a nearby dock. However, he was not able to see his father when he looked back.
Immediately, the emergency was reported to the wardens, firefighters, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in Maine. The rescuers arrived promply, but they could not find Brooks alive. His body was found at 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 8 and it was several meters deep and approximately 15 meters from the dock, where the elder son was able to put his sisters together and keep them safe.
