A United Kingdom man died after having an asthma attack on a flight from London to New York. Reportedly, the 25-year-old man passed away 45 minutes after he dropped his inhaler before landing on American ground on Monday, July 4 in the morning. He was identified as Shimon Brauher and was a student at Yeshiva in London.
The authorities stated that the asthma attack provoked panic in the young man, which caused the inhaler from dropping out of his hand. Following this incident, the airplane crew attempted to assist him with oxygen and later with CPR but this was not possible due to the young man’s asthma condition, which made him unable to inhale the oxygen.
It was later reported that a member of Brauer’s Orthodox Jewish community, tried to supply Brauher with oxygen immediately, but it was later revealed that the man’s airways had already closed due to the severity of the asthma attack. It must also be considered that asthma causes inflammation and can be triggered in people by dust and pet dander.
Shimon Brauher was a part of the Orthodox Stamford Hill community, as revealed by Jewish News. He planned to volunteer at a summer camp in the United States. Officials are set to conduct an investigation later this year to further clarify the situation.
