China man attemps to enter university for the 27th time

Liang Shi, a 56-year-old Chinese man, has achieved many of his personal goals and dreams. He is a successful businessman, has worked in various industries, opened his own company, got married, and had a child. However, what he hasn’t been able to realize is his dream of becoming a university student.

The China man’s failure at the most important university entrance exam is not related to inconsistency or lack of interest but is rather related to his inability to obtain the required score. He has attempted to pass the test a total of 27 times, including his latest try in early June this year.

Liang Shi decided to take the “gaokao” test, which is a two-day exam that is also made by nearly 13 million Chinese students. The event, which occurs only once a year, is surrounded by intense media coverage and it sets expectations and hopes for millions of families in China, as the gaokao is usually the most important requirement for college admissions.

Sadly, after multiple attempts, Shi has not been able to obtain a sufficient score to be admitted into any important high education establishment. Following the completion of the gaokao, the man uploaded a video to the social network Douyin, which is similar to TikTok. He stated that he was not very satisfied with his results, as he had scored 428 points (out of the total 750) which is not enough for being admitted into a prestigious college.

In multiple interviews with different media outlets, the Chinese man has re-considered presenting the difficult text for another year. “I have been contemplating whether I should continue.” He stated. “I might give up (next year), If I do attend it next year, I will give up my last name Liang if I fail.”
