Singer Bebe Rexha was taken to the hospital after being hit on stage

Pop singer, Bebe Rexha, was giving a show last Sunday, June 18, at New York’s The Rooftop at Pier 17. As the “No Broken Hearts” performer was carrying on with the show, she was hit near the eye with a cellphone thrown by one of the concertgoers. Rexha’s crew promptly assisted her as she was collapsing on the floor. The concert was eventually cut short early and the singer was taken to the hospital to get stitches.

New York’s Police Department later arrested the person who caused the injury. The 27-year-old man, identified as Nicholas Malvagna, and was pressed with multiple assault charges after the event, including: two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of harassment in the second degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree and a count of attempted assault in the third degree.

In addition, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office stated that Malvagna confessed hurling the cellphone to the singer, and later affirmed that he intentionally did so. According to his words, he “was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show.” He also added that he “thought it would be funny.”

Rexha later shared a photo of her bruised right eye on social and stated that she was feeling good after the incident. There are no confirmations or plans to stop the concert tour, in spite of the event. The singer will be performing at the Fillmore Auditorium in Philadelphia tonight, Tuesday, June 20, with her “Best F’n Night of My Life Tour.”
