Overwatch 2 is now facing some backlash after deciding to cancel its PvE mode. However, the Blizzard Entertainment team is now focusing on what is next for the video game. This week, the shooter game will initiate a new event to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. In this new festivity, additional info regarding the sexual orientation of some characters in the video game was revealed as well.
Blizzard confirmed some details about the Pride event, which is set to start tomorrow on July 1. As of that moment, players will be able to obtain a collection including 15 icons of the LGBTQIA+ flags and 24 special cards to customize their own profiles. In addition, Midtown, a game map inspired in New York, will be updated with an exclusive design that resembles the Pride parade.

Certainly, Overwatch 2 has rarely addressed the sexual orientation of their characters. Before the second title of the game was released, it was known that Tracer was a lesbian and Soldier 76 was gay, thanks to the different comic stories. However, Blizzard Entertainment now desires to be much clearer with these topics, as it was seen after the company confirmed Lifeweaver was pansexual.
Moreover, the studio later revealed that 2 of the characters are also part of the LGBTQIA+ community. They specifically referred to Pharah, who identifies as a lesbian, and Baptiste, who is a bisexual man. This new information will be approached in the form of a short story, which is set to be a cannon one in the Overwatch 2 franchise.
