Mexican citizens who are interested in traveling to the United States without a passport or visa, can start processing the Border Crossing Card (BBC). This card is issued as a laminated credit card with enhanced graphics and technology.
This document must be requested for a limited entrance to the US. According to Heraldo USA, it is perfect for those who want to visit the country for only a few days. In addition, the passport and the Border Crossing Card are, basically, a B1 or B2 visitor’s type of visa. Because of this, the entrance to the US would start being valid no matter the means of transport used to get into the American country.
In order to request this document, the DSP-150 form must be filled for the cost of 185 dollars, which is equal to 3.330 Mexican pesos. The application process is similar to that of the visa, using the normal procedures set by the Mexico consular. After that, an appointment must be scheduled and an in-person interviewed is done to validate all the information in the process.
In addition to that, only citizens of Mexico can apply to obtain this card. They also have to meet the eligibility standards of a regular B1-B2 visa, and most importantly, they must show ties to their origin country (Mexico) that would compel them to come back after staying in the United States.
This card is valid until the expiration date on the front of the card, which is usually ten years after insurance.
