K-pop artist T.O.P, also known as Choi Seunghyun, confirmed he is no longer a part of the group BIGBANG on a recent Instagram post. The idol reveals this information one year after the release of the latest song by the five-piece band, “Still Life.” He now states that he is ready to venture into his solo endeavors and has announced he is still making music.
In spite of the rapper ending the contract with his long-time agency, YG Entertainment, the news come as a surprise to fans, as they had already been aware the idol left the agency, but that did not necessarily mean his leaving from the boy band was imminent. It has been seen that other idols remain close to their groups after ending contracts with their former agencies. Tiffany Young, from Girls’ Generation, is an example of this.
However, all doubts and speculations were cleared today when one of the fans decided to leave a comment on the artist’s Instagram profile. The young girl asked if he had left BIGBANG, to what the artist replied with a resounding yes, and utilized the solo material he has yet to be released as proofs of the withdrawal. Later on the comments section, another fan asked the rapper if he was coming back to the music scene, to what he answered “Solo.” The comments read:
I’ve already withdrawn. I’ve already told you guys that I’m leaving and I’m now facing a new chapter in my life since last year.
Finally, one of his Instagram posts shows the artist making beats and melodies for his up-coming music project, which does not have an official release date yet.
