PAC-MAN 99 and its downloadable content will no longer be available for the Nintendo Switch Online. Some of the video game features will be taken off the service in a few months.
The online features and multiple-player matches will be gone forever on that day. The games with 99 gamers playing at the same time, in which the last one standing would get the victory after surviving ghosts and eliminating their opponents will soon stop functioning.
The game was always free to download, even when attached to Nintendo’s Switch Online subscription. However, as stated by Bandai Namco, some of the features had to be paid for. For example, The Deluxe Pack or the different game modes to be unlocked.
Nintendo assures that after the servers are shut down for the online game, you will still be able to play some games in Battle Mode or against the computer for some time without a Wi-Fi connection. Although no specific dates for the removal of the previously mentioned services were stated, it is expected for them to remain available as they do not require Internet connection to be utilized.
The only retro battle-royal-like game that is still remaining within the store is Tetris, which holds a similar premise to PAC-MAN. Ninety-nine players are in the game at the same time, and the last one alive gets the first place.
