Bill Gates says artificial intelligence might kill off Google and Amazon

Bill Gates made some new remarks regarding the future of artificial intelligence and the potential effects it could have on two of the biggest and most profitable companies in the world.

The Microsoft co-founder has been stating more “predictions” about the future of technology and the advantages it brings with it. However, this time Gates gave discouraging news for a number of companies, especially those which are related to virtual shopping and search engines, such as Amazon and Google. These two seemed to be the ones who will suffer the negative effects of the new technology era.

Gates highlighted how fastly artificial intelligence has been advancing. He also stated that the technological race will be won by those who are able to have their search engines constantly evolving. In the opposite scenario, they might not be able to adapt and this could result in their leaving the market.

Whoever wins the personal agent, that’s the big thing, because you will never go to a search site again, you will never go to a productivity site, you’ll never go to  Amazon again.

He also made some remarks regarding the future of Microsoft in the AI journey and showed his interest in some other AI companies. “I’d be disappointed if Microsoft didn’t come in there, but I’m impressed with a couple of startups, including Inflection,” referring to Inflection.AI, co-founded by former DeepMind executive Mustafa Suleyman. He concluded his statements with a small joke about making sure “the new AI robots don’t get Alzheimer’s.”
