PlayStation announces new portable console and the Project Q is revealed

In recent years, the demand for great portable consoles has been on the rise. These demands match rumors which indicated PlayStation was interested in releasing a new hardware, supposed to be played remotely. Now, an official announcement is here and the PlayStation company has officially revealed the “Project Q.”

There have always been limitations when it comes to comparing handheld consoles with their bigger counterparts, which are played at home using the TV. However, Sony (PlayStation’s company) decided to make a streaming-based system to reduce limitations of portable video game systems when compared to other consoles.

There is not much information revealed at the moment, but according to Sony, video games are set to be played in a remote way. Meaning, you will need to purchase the PlayStation 5, so that the console streams its games to the portable device over Wi-Fi connection.

The new console, which is yet to be released, has an 8-inch screen with two DualSense controllers on the sides. An official launch date has not been confirmed, but it is said the product will be in stores at the end of the year. Eventually, more information in terms of prices and availability will be made public in later months. These are the key details that were revealed about Project Q:

  • It has an 8-inch screen (not 4k).
  • A PlayStation 5 is needed in order to stream PS5 games to the new portable console through Wi-Fi.
  • All the same buttons/features as the DualSense controller.

This news definitely raise hype among users who have been waiting for a handheld device from the Sony company, which had not released a product with these characteristics since the PSP (PlayStation Portable) over more than ten years ago.
