On Thursday, August 25th, after Jennette McCurdy sparked new accusations against Nickelodeon, protesters gathered outside Nickelodeon’s animation studio in Burbank to make more accusations, specifically against “iCarly” series creator Dan Schneider.
Former “Zoey 101” actress Alexa Nikolas, who runs the organization “Eat Predators“, which advocates for sexual assault survivors, organized the protest. She claimed that she and her fellow child actors “weren’t safe” during her time working on the show.
“Personally, I didn’t feel safe on Nickelodeon as a kid“, she said in a live stream of the protest posted on Instagram.
“I am demanding that Nickelodeon start protecting children and not predators“.

Nikolas played Nicole Bristow on “Zoey 101”, which was also created by Schneider. During the protest, she called Dan “the originator of childhood trauma“. She insisted that she “didn’t feel safe with Schneider while working at Nickelodeon“.
Alongside Alexa, about 20 protesters held signs bearing the network’s bright orange logo and signature slime. Some signs said “Sickelodeon” and “predators“.
Nikolas also called out former Nickelodeon employees including Ezel Channel, John Kricfalusi and Jason Michael Handy who have been accused of sexual misconduct. She also criticized former Nickelodeon executives Sharon Lieblein, Cyma Zarghami and Fred Savage, who was a director on “Zoey 101”.
“What we’re seeing here is a group of ‘professional executives’ at Nickelodeon who failed to protect children on set“, Nikolas said at the protest.
“Kids at Nickelodeon weren’t safe, at least when I was on it“.
