First Lady Jill Biden tests positive for COVID after President Joe Biden recovers

The first lady of the United States, Jill Biden, has contracted COVID-19 and has “mild symptoms” like a cold, the White House reported Tuesday.

The first lady tested negative for two rapid antigen tests on Monday, but a more precise polymerase test (PSR) confirmed the infection. The wife of the president Joe Biden is vaccinated with the two basic doses of the Pfizer vaccine and two booster doses.

According to new guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Jill Biden will isolate herself from other people for at least five days. People who were in direct contact with her have already been notified, the White House said.

The Bidens are vacationing at a South Carolina waterfront mansion owned by a Democratic Party donor. The White House said Jill Biden will return to Washington when she tests negative for two consecutive COVID-19 tests.

President Biden tested negative for an antigen test on Tuesday, but since he is in direct contact with his wife, the White House reported that he will wear a mask for 10 days indoors and near other people. In addition, he will undergo more frequent COVID tests in the coming days.
