FBI concludes Alec Baldwin fired the gun that killed Halyna Hutchins

The FBI has concluded that Alec Baldwin did fire the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of the movie Rust in October 2021.

ABC News released a revealing report of the forensic analysis investigation made by the US agency. According to the report cited and attributed to the FBI, it was discovered “that the revolver in question, a single-action .45 Colt F.lli Pietta, could not have been fired without someone pulling the trigger“.

This was determined after performing accidental discharge tests. Supposedly the FBI points out that this type of gun, when working properly, doesn’t release a bullet and a primer simultaneously just by playing with the hammer.

With the hammer in the positions it was in, the barrel could not be fired without pulling the trigger“, the report warned.

This could bring down the actor’s argument, since Baldwin alleges that it is what he was doing when the unfortunate events occurred. The actor could face criminal charges for the incident, and the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the case will go to the district attorney.

The report quoted by ABC News says that the results of these FBI findings were sent to New Mexico authorities, who are conducting the investigation. One of the things they are still waiting for, according to a statement, is Baldwin’s phone records, TMZ detailed.

According to Variety magazine, the FBI investigation also seeks to find out how a real bullet leaked onto the film set and the actions of weapons specialist Hannah Gutiérrez Reed.
