Actress Olivia Newton-John, the eternal Sandy from the musical “Grease” (1978), passed away this Monday, August 8th. She was 73 years old and had been battling breast cancer for 30 years. A source told TMZ that she died of metastatic cancer, but no official statement has been released by doctors or family members.
According to the star’s husband, John Easterling, Olivia Newton-John “died peacefully“. She was on her ranch in southern California, United States. The star is survived by a daughter, singer/actress Chloe Rose Lattanzi, from Olivia’s first marriage to Matt Lattanzi.

In cinema, Olivia Newton-John directed “Grease” and “Xanadu” (1980), among many other credits. Her most recent movie was “The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee” (2020), in which she made a cameo appearance as herself.
She has also had a successful music career, with more than 20 studio albums released since 1971. The last was “Friends For Christmas” (with John Farnham) in 2016. Olivia Newton-John also won four Grammy Awards. The singer placed five songs at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
