Ashton Kutcher opens up about vasculitis, the disease for which he almost lost his sight and hearing

Ashton Kutcher will be the next guest star to appear on National Geographic‘s adventure show ‘Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge‘ to test his wilderness survival skills.

In the case of the protagonist of the series That 70s Show, the whole experience has been even more significant because a couple of years ago he was completely “out of action“.

I had a strange disease, a very rare form of vasculitis, which affected my vision, my hearing and my balance. It took me a year to fully recover them“, explained the actor in one of the promotional previews of the episode.

This disease consists of an inflammation of the blood vessels that hinders the blood flow of the body and that can cause damage to the organs and tissues. Ashton knows that he is very lucky to be alive and without consequences, so he now faces life with a completely different vision.

You don’t really appreciate things until they’re gone. Until you think, ‘I don’t know if I’ll ever see again, I don’t know if I’ll ever hear again, I don’t know if I’ll ever walk again‘”, he acknowledged.

When you start to see your obstacles as things that are made for you, to give you what you need, then life starts to get fun. You start to navigate above your problems instead of living below them”, he finished.
