Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy revealed in her autobiography that the company offered her $300,000 not to talk about the alleged abuse she suffered while working on the series iCarly and Sam & Cat.
In the book titled I’m Glad My Mom Died, which will be released on August 9th, the artist explains that she suffered abuse from a person she refers to as The Creator. According to McCurdy, he encouraged her to drink when she was only 18 years old, something illegal in the United States, in addition to giving her massages in an inappropriate manner.
“My shoulders have a lot of knots in them, but I don’t want The Creator to be the one rubbing them. I wanted to say something to him, tell him to stop, but I’m too scared to offend him“, Jennette relates in the text.
Later, the performer said that after Sam & Cat was canceled, a Nickelodeon representative came to offer her 300 thousand dollars “as a thank you gift” for her work.

However, the agent told her that the only thing the company wanted was for her to “never speak publicly” about her experience at Nickelodeon, particularly the victences related to The Creator. McCurdy explained that he turned down the offer:
“I felt it was hush money and I’m not going to take hush money“.
Finally, Jennette McCurdy stated that she does not understand how a network that produces children’s programs does not have a “moral compass” or ethical standards.
