One of the daughters of businessman Elon Musk filed a name change petition to sever all ties with her father and reflect her new gender identity as a trans woman after spending the first part of her life as Xavier Alexander Musk.
The 18-year-old is one of the seven children that the Tesla owner had with her first wife, Justine Wilson, and now she has decided to adopt her mother’s maiden name to become known as Vivian Jenna Wilson.
In the legal documents that she presented last April before the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica, Vivian clarified the status of her relationship with the billionaire businessman.

“Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form“, she said in those legal documents.
Although Musk has not yet commented on his daughter’s decision, in the past he has stated that he absolutely supports transgender people, however, he has also repeatedly expressed his disagreement with the free choice of personal pronouns, especially the neutrals used by non-binary people.
So far, the reasons why the young woman wants to break ties with her father have not transpired, and the tycoon has not spoken about it either. Neither the lawyers representing Musk nor the Tesla communication department have responded to the Reuters agency regarding this family dispute.
