Alec John Such, Bon Jovi’s first bassist, dies at 70

Alec John Such, lead bassist and founding member of American rock group Bon Jovi, has died at the age of 70, frontman Jon Bon Jovi announced on Sunday, May 5th. Singer Jon Bon Jovi stated on Twitter that “As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was an integral part of the group’s formation“.

Jon Bon Jovi added that Alec John Such was a childhood friend of drummer Tico Torres, and that he brought Richie Sambora to see a concert of the group, before joining them as lead guitarist. Also, the cause of his death was not disclosed.

With hits like ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’, ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’ and ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’, Bon Jovi sold out arenas in the 1980s on their world tours.

Alec John Such, who played with the group from 1983 to 1994, and Sambora, who left the band in 2013, performed with the lineup for the 2018 Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Bon Jovi then joined the roster. legendary artists like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan or Pink Floyd.
