Sonic director, Jeff Fowler, would like to make a Super Smash Bros movie

Jeff Fowler, director in charge of the Sonic: The Hedgehog movies, admits during an interview that he would like to make a Super Smash Bros movie, however, he recognized that making the film would be a very complicated job.

After being asked by ComicBook.com if he would ever like to direct an adaptation of the Super Smash Bros fandom, the renowned director answered in the affirmative, but did not overlook the difficulties in making it.

Nothing would make me happier than to just throw all the characters into a battle royale and do a big Smash Bros. thing. That would probably require some work from the lawyers before that could happen“, Fowler said at the time.

Getting Mario and Sonic in the ring, I mean everyone would be kinda dying for that, right? That’s just classic“.

Then, the media points out that the multinational company Sega owns the characters of the Sonic franchise, while Nintendo owns Super Smash Bros and many of its associated characters, which could cause a large number of legal obstacles to merge them into one for him feature film.

On the other hand, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, directed by Fowler, was a resounding success, thus becoming the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time in the United States. The producer of the 2020 Sonic movie and the sequel, Toby Ascher, has revealed that the plan is to create “a Sonic cinematic universe“.
