Will Smith is left without two films (for now) after the slap to Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022

The fallout from Will Smith’s slap in the face of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars for a joke about the shaved head of Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia, continues. The actor, winner of the statuette for The Williams Method, resigned from his position at the Hollywood Film Academy a few days ago, but his future projects have also been affected. Netflix has paralyzed Fast and Loose, a film that Smith was going to star in. Sony, for its part, has done the same with Bad Boys 4, the fourth installment of the saga in which the interpreter shares the limelight with Martin Lawrence.

As reported by THR, a week before the 2022 Oscars were held, David Leitch stepped down from the Fast and Loose director’s chair. The director of Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train chose to turn Fall Guy, a Universal film starring Ryan Gosling, into his next project. The film is expected to start shooting in August. According to the aforementioned medium, Netflix and Universal were competing to become Leitch’s next project.

The streaming platform of the great Jan, when the director opted for Fall Guy instead of Fast and Loose, urgently sought another director, underlining the fact that they had Smith, the favorite to win the Oscar for Best Actor. However, after the actor’s assault on Rock, Netflix has quietly moved the project to the background.

Fast and Loose, which follows a crime lord who loses his memory after an attack and, following a series of clues, discovers that he has a dual identity as a gangster and a CIA agent, was one of Netflix’s bets. For now, it is unknown if the streaming platform will go ahead with the project in the future or not.

As for Bad Boys 4, the film was going to continue the story after Bad Boys For Life, the third installment of the saga released in 2020 and which returned the 1995 franchise Two Rebel Cops to the big screen. In 2003 the sequel Two Rebel Policemen II was released. For now, Sony has paused the project and, according to THR, others that are in pre-production will follow the same path.
