Bruce Willis to retire from acting after medical diagnosis

Bruce Willis, 67, is ending his acting career for health reasons, after being diagnosed with aphasia, his daughter Rumer Willis reported this Wednesday, March 30, in a post on Instagram.

To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.
This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.

Aphasia is a cognitive disease that involves a disorder of language and spoken or written communication skills, among other things.

Willis had worked as an actor since the 1970s and had become famous mostly for action movies like Die Hard. For his successes in the industry, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, among other honors.

Willis was married to actress Demi Moore between 1987 and 2000; His daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah are the fruit of this marriage. He is currently married to model Emma Heming since 2009, the couple share two daughters.
