Jim Carrey retires from acting ‘I have enough. I’ve done enough’

Jim Carrey, assured that his role as the villain Robotnik in the movie Sonic the Hedgehog 2 could be his last participation on the big screen, since he has put on the table his retirement from acting to dedicate himself to other of his passions.

Well, I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious.

It depends if the angels bring some sort of script that’s, you know, written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break

I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life. I feel like — and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists — I have enough. I’ve done enough. I’m enough

In recent years Carrey has slowed down his work rate when it comes to acting jobs. It is a decision motivated by the suicide of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White and the legal problems that she later faced. As part of his life turnaround, he also decided to focus on painting, moving away from big productions.

After ‘Kick-Ass 2‘, which was a film that he decided not to promote and was completely disassociated after the Sandy Hook shooting in 2013, during the last decade the renowned actor only participated in the sequel to ‘Dumb and Dumber‘, the thriller ‘True Crimes‘, the first Sonic movie and the TV series ‘Kidding‘.
