Cargo ship ‘Sun Rio’ entered the port of Vadivostok, Russia, last Monday with a shipment of totally frozen vehicles imported from Japan. Images of the ice-filled cars quickly circulated on social media.
The layer of ice and snow that covered the vehicles reached tens of centimeters in height in some parts, according to local media reports. The temperature in the area was around -20 °C that day, with a wind chill close to -30 °C.
The ship faced especially strong gusts of wind, accompanied by a storm that made the trip take place under extreme weather conditions. As the documents show, the vehicles arrived frozen inside and out. The ship was carrying second-hand Japanese models, vehicles from manufacturers Honda and Toyota.
